Casa Azuloia

The Village

The name of the village Azoia is of Arab origin (Al Zawiya) meaning hermitage, and it is indeed the last village before the end of the earth: if you follow the road N379 from Sesimbra you end up on the cliffs of the cape called Cabo Espichel.
As small as it is (650 inhabitants), the village consists of Azoia, Serra de Azoia, and Casais de Azoia where Casa Azuloia is.
Azoia offers 2 minimarkets, a café, 2 bakeries, one of which also offers coffee, a restaurant (da Fátima) and a cheese maker (Dona Inês). Something special is a typically Iberian windmill where you can buy bread and have a coffee (it is mostly open in the summer months).
Close to Casa Azuloia there is a playground for children.
